Code of Practice for small-scale beekeepers

The government have made recommendation on the introduction of Industry Codes of Practice and introduced stricter legislation on food hygiene in "The Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations 1995". These regulations and guidance are common sense to anyone who thinks about the products we handle but we may not have thought about the detail. Bob Robinson our Webmaster has produced a "Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point" (HACCP pronounced hasp) document that may be suitable for most small scale beekeepers. haccp.pdf

The Scottish Beekeepers' Association Have thought about the subject for beekeepers' and have produced an excellent website covering that detail. Anyone selling their honey to the public or even giving it away to friends and family should take a look at some of the documents. (The website seems to have lost its webmaster and so has lost some of its links, the documents produced by them are for the moment available from my archive, see below) it is worth a few minutes and easy to save to print out later
